Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Packaging

What types of cosmetic packaging can you manufacture?

Vigor Packaging manufactures custom cosmetic packaging for lipstick, makeup palettes, compacts, foundation, mascara, beauty tools and complete cosmetic collections. Available formats include folding cartons, rigid gift boxes, PR boxes, presentation cases, makeup pouches, paper bags and coordinated packaging accessories.

Can you design packaging around the dimensions of our cosmetic products?

Yes. The box structure can be developed around the exact dimensions of lipstick tubes, compacts, palettes, bottles, jars and beauty tools. Providing physical product samples or accurate measurements allows us to determine the required internal dimensions, clearances and insert structure.

For individual lipstick products, a fitted custom lipstick box can improve protection while providing a consistent retail display.

What inserts are suitable for cosmetic packaging?

Available insert materials include folded cardboard, molded pulp, EVA foam, fabric-covered foam and thermoformed trays. Cardboard and molded pulp inserts are suitable for many paper-based packaging projects, while EVA or thermoformed trays may provide more precise positioning for irregularly shaped products.

The insert should be designed according to the product weight, shape, fragility and desired unboxing presentation.

Can you manufacture cosmetic gift sets and influencer PR boxes?

Yes. A custom cosmetic box can be designed to hold several products, such as lipstick, foundation, palettes, brushes and skincare items, within one coordinated presentation.

Rigid boxes, drawer boxes, book-style boxes and multi-layer structures are commonly used for launches, seasonal collections and influencer PR kits. Compartments can be arranged to control product placement and guide the order in which items are revealed.

Do you manufacture reusable makeup bags and pouches?

Yes. Custom makeup bags can be produced for cosmetic sets, travel collections, promotional gifts and retail products. The size, fabric, lining, zipper, internal pockets, handles and logo application can be customized.

A reusable pouch can serve as both product packaging and a functional item that customers continue using after purchase.

Which printing and luxury finishes are suitable for cosmetic packaging?

Available options include CMYK and Pantone printing, foil stamping, embossing, debossing, spot UV, screen printing, matte or gloss lamination, soft-touch lamination, flocking and specialty textured paper.

The best finish depends on the substrate, artwork, target price and desired customer experience. Our custom packaging finishes guide compares the appearance, protection, cost and appropriate applications of different techniques.

How can cosmetic packaging be protected from scratches and makeup stains?

Lamination or a suitable protective coating can improve resistance to handling, light moisture, fingerprints and surface abrasion. Matte, gloss, soft-touch and anti-scratch films provide different appearances and levels of protection.

Dark colors, large solid ink areas and soft-touch surfaces may show marks more easily, so physical samples and rub testing are recommended before mass production. The package should also be designed to prevent the cosmetic product from moving or leaking inside the box.

Can you maintain consistent colors across different shades and packaging components?

Yes. We support CMYK and Pantone color matching across product cartons, gift boxes, paper bags, makeup pouches, tissue paper, stickers and printed inserts. A controlled master color reference can help maintain consistency across a cosmetic collection containing several product shades.

Because the same color can appear different on coated paper, kraft paper, fabric and specialty materials, a physical sample should be approved for each important substrate. Coordinated components can be sourced through our custom packaging accessories range.

Is cosmetic packaging primary or secondary packaging?

The boxes, bags, pouches and presentation sets produced by Vigor Packaging are generally secondary packaging. They contain and protect cosmetic products that are already held in primary containers such as lipstick tubes, compacts, bottles or jars.

Ingredient lists, warnings, batch areas, barcodes, recycling symbols and other required information can be included in the artwork. However, the cosmetic brand is responsible for supplying and approving the legally required content for each target market.

What are the MOQ, sample time and production lead time?

Our standard MOQ is generally 1,000 pieces per design. The final quantity depends on the structure, dimensions, materials, inserts and finishing processes. Custom samples normally take 3–7 working days, while mass production generally takes 15–30 working days after sample and artwork approval.

To request an accurate quotation, provide the product dimensions, packaging style, quantity, preferred materials, printing colors, finishes, insert requirements, artwork and delivery destination. If the structure has not been finalized, you can contact our packaging team for recommendations.
